New Business:
Thanks to all who chaired or helped w/ events last month.
Holidayshopping 4:15-7:30. December 5&6. Set up Friday afternoon. Adults need to be w/ children during the shopping. We are using a different company this year. Raffle tickets will be sold for large stocking stuffed with toys. Volunteer’s still needed! Go to sign up genius.com to sign up to volunteer. Walk through on Monday during the school day?
School beauty: Sat 19th 1:30-3:30 Fall Clean up. The Brady family will be helping again this year. Cider & Donuts will be provided. Please sign up at signupgenuis.com Bring rakes, gloves tarps, etc…
Roller Skating: Nancy Toton, all is set to go! Needs help selling tickets during the school day.
Red Ribbon Week/Safe Homes: Beth Baeten & Michelle Oddo went to luncheon. We had a nice lunch and met w/ other pto presidents and representatives. Mrs. Long, was there talk of books to read during red ribbon week? Teachers looking for appropriate ways to discuss red ribbon/drug free choices. Troy High Schools no longer have police liaisons in the school. High Schools have hired retiredTroypolice whom have formed own company and are happy with the service.
Open Discussion:
Dining out: Nothing planned for November & December. Looking into McDonalds dining out in January 4:15 until 7:15 Thursday, Jan 12th or 19th Rochester Rd andBig Beaver Rd. DQ last month brought in $9.20
We are in 5th place at Oakland Mall
Lisa Eckerle and Dr. Garrett met w/ SOCCRA today. Starting December 7th. The Cafeteria will become more GREEN. Lisa Eckerle is taking this on. We will now recycle plastic, metal, glass, milk, cartons, juice bags and lunchable trays. SOCCRA is providing everything for the above recyclables.
Wattles Wear. Rob Tasker will be setting up again this year before conferences.
Excel Math: Specific fundraiser for this? Fun-Run in the spring for Excel for the 12-13 school year? Approximately $4000 is needed. Should we do a survey and see if parents want excels next year? Have teachers/PTO looked into getting grants for Excel? We should look into this.
Dr. Fowler will be at the Jan meeting
Teacher update: Small moments writing in 2nd grade, Mrs. Long’s class had Diversity Day. Teachers extend a Thank You for Jet’s Pizza on Jet’s Pizza day. 3rd grade diversity celebrations went well, Mr. Geileghem will do his later in the month. Mrs. Stein’s edline page up with songs composed by kids, she will continue to add to it.
Dr. Garrett update: Thank to Red Ribbon Week chair Beth Baeten, lots of kids wore red. 30 iPads received from TSD. Title 1 – new stuff coming, more parent support and communication is being required to keep grant moeny. There will be more family activity nights for Title 1. Excel Math committee will form to handle the Excel discussions and plans. Report cards and parent teacher conferences are next week.
